Being Plaid
Athletics
What does our team have in common with the highest performing athletes in the world? We’re both laser-focused on being better.
We know athletic performance is so much more than what happens on the field or during competition. It’s a mindset and a commitment to growth and elevating your game. Our services are designed to help athletes, coaches, trainers, and advisors be better in what they do so they can perform better during competition.
Winning teams don’t happen by accident. Let Plaid support your path to victory.
Services
Developing athletes is not just about physical training. Truly elevating performance involves unlocking the mental and emotional aspects related to personal awareness that helps athletes thrive. Plaid’s athlete development programming provides a framework for personal awareness development so athletes can better understand their innate strengths, interests, and motivations while also learning to balance and manage stress.
Successful teams are not simply a compilation of talented individuals. It’s a matter of getting those individuals collaboratively working together towards a goal. Our team development programs bring teams together to recognize the strengths, perspectives, and assets of each member and identify ways to effectively work together. These programs are designed to facilitate awareness of team dynamics, improve team cohesion, and chart a path towards successfully performing together.
Knowing the game is only half the battle of coaching. Knowing your athletes and how to best motivate and engage them is critical to success. We work with coaches, trainers, and advisors to better understand the athletes with whom they work to more effectively guide performance. Through individualized assessments as well as group analysis, we provide tangible strategies that can be used to support athletes in practice, during competition, and beyond.

Research on Player Development
Does personal awareness development really work in improving team performance? An initial study on the PlaidSport model found observable positive changes in a Division I Football team and coaching staff in terms of increasing personal awareness and awareness of others. In the study, one student-athlete shared the following “I could feel a change in how the coach approached me as a player…and how he approached other players in a different way than he previously did.”
